Here is a Zenolink analysis of someone named Brent Davis. Zenolink is the company where "deceleration guru" Chris Welch is from. I'd heard about this kind of analysis but guess I never really realized what it actually entailed. I won't be signing up for one anytime soon. Just as I was told, Zenolink preaches "hip deceleration". Sure enough, one of the first "objectives" identified for Brent will be to "create a better acceleration/deceleration dynamic to transfer more of that speed through the core". Commentary starts around 1:10. We know from Tapio that about 95% of the golfers he has analyzed don't maintain hip acceleration until impact: the hips speed peaks a little before impact than drops off (hips in blue, shoulders red, hands green, club yellow): But this winner on the European tour doesn't start to decel the hips until after impact: Early deceleration causes early release of the arms and club and increases the likelihood of a flip: that's what happens with the hip stallers: Wouldn't you prefer to to avoid that? Should we be teaching to the "averages" or to the "optimal"? You be the judge! Jeff

Jeff,
Ask Lucas to post something about this. He spent a few weeks with Chris Welch and knows how he trains people. This should be informative for everyone.
