A total of six players from my club, Black Oak Golf Club, qualified for this year's New Jersey Open that was held at the beautifully renovated Hollywood Golf Club in Deal, NJ, on the Jersey shore. To me, the course looked like it could host a major championship. We had beautiful weather the first round where I got a few good pics (sadly, most were a bit underexposed). Black Oak head pro David Glenz with cigar: Waiting on 18th: Black Oak assistant Jesse Smith blasts one on the 444 yard 18th; his second shot was just 60 yards! His boss Glenz (above in the 18th fairway) used a 6 iron for his second (and hit a very nice shot)! Black Oak assistant Peter Chang lines it up on the 16th: Top of the backswing on 17: Peter's a VERY good bunker player: Black Oak assistant Frank Cossio approaches the green on the par 3 fourth: Nice shot, Frank! Black Oak assistant Andy Buege tees off on the 5th: Jeff

I want to see them use the front pin position on that green.

That guy Jesse must be super long to only have 60 yards into that hole. I looked up the results and saw he did pretty well.

I think that drive was pretty unusual for him, or anyone else in the field! I didn't follow his drive off the tee (one of the drawbacks of taking pictures) and when I saw him play his second shot, I just assumed he was playing his third: that he had driven it into the trees and had to punch out! It wasn't until I spoke with him and the others after the round that I learned it was where his drive had finished. Jeff

Yeah i looked at the results and he was the only pro from Black Oak to make the cut, finished 9th, but there was one amateur from your club that did make the cut.
