How does revolving door generate more speed? That's your homework assignment! You'll find everything you need in Kelvin's articles (hint: with the revolving door you have both sets of glutes and hip adductors applying rotational force; slamming the door uses mostly the right side with very little left side. More muscles = more energy...). Seems like Kelvin said "take your pick"? Was that a shot at the current Eldrick swing?Yep. Taken a look at his driving distance lately, among other things??? It seemed like he had no problem hitting it with Rory this weekend, and thats after 9 surgeries to a 22 year old kid. You act like Tiger is in his 70s! He just turned 36. Hogan was at his longest and straightest when he was 36 (1948). Nicklaus was top ten in driving distance when he was 40 (1980) and admited in 1983 his swing mechanics had been deteriorating since the late 1960s. Snead was "keeping up" with the "flat bellies" when he was in his 60s and shooting his age on the PGA tour. In 2011 Woods averaged 294 yards, good for 71st. Rory is currently averaging 302 on the European tour. Yep, Tiger is "keeping up". Probably "sneaks it by him" every once in a while. Great. Go, grampy!! Woods is arguably the best golfer who ever lived so no doubt he can easily win even with his current sub-optimal technique: so many other players on the world tours do it all the time! What seems to be forgotten (or maybe it just wasn't realized), Tiger DID HAVE the best technique. Not anymore. Jeff

Jeff I don't think Tiger is as healthy as he was pre surgery in 08' and even less healthier than he was in 2000. Can't prove that off course but the fact he has had so many serious injuries I don't think it makes it a stretch. Lets look at it this year, last week Rory was 6th and Tiger 12th in distance, and I watched all four rounds Tiger was hitting with him or past him all week. That is your opinion of Tigers current technique. With the ball striking I saw from Tiger the first three days if he had his old putting and short game he would have had a 8 shot lead heading into Sunday and it would have been a runaway.

Well, then, sounds like the trend is in the right direction for a change.

Distances in 1 tournament are way too small of a sample size to judge. Over the long haul it gives a *better* idea. However, I would wait until we get some clubhead speed numbers off of PGATour.com before I start to judge because it wasn't too long ago that some people were mocking Jamie Lovemark's swing as not being 'dynamic' and he's currently 2nd in swing speed at 124 mph

Its like saying Phil is all washed up because he missed the cut only to find out something serious happened to his daughter a couple days before the tournament. He still might be washed up but the the book is not written yet.

But do you think he would have hit it with a 22 year old tiger when he was playing an old 43 cobra steel shafted driver and a balata. Its clear Tigers ballstriking has gotten shorter and worse. He used to lead the Tour in GIR almost every year and in 2011 he was 37th in GIR and 71st in distance. And from 97 to 02 he was top 6 in distance. So whatever changes hes made to his swing have made him shorter and more wild, and he's also had some injuries.

I think discussing this now is moot and will be better answered at the end of this season with a full year to get his health and swing back in shape.

From what I saw, while he was being prudent and hitting 3-wood off most tees, they were landing in the fairway and rolling into fairway bunkers. Several times, he went from fairway bunker to greenside bunker. You can also listen to what he thought of his round here: www.europeantour.com/videoaudio/audio/audioid=153448.html
